Dubai Airport List

1- Dubai International Airport (DXB)

Dubai International Airport (DXB) opened its doors back in 1960 and has become the third busiest airport globally. It’s got three terminals and is where you’ll find Emirates, the UAE’s biggest airline. Shuttle buses zip passengers between the terminals smoothly. The airport recently expanded with Concourse D, which has made space for sixty more international airlines to operate. Situated just 5 km from Dubai’s city center, getting to and from the airport is a breeze, whether you’re taking a taxi or hopping on the metro. DXB is known for its luxury vibes, offering travelers plenty of shopping, dining, and lounge options to chill out in before their flights. Terminal 3 even has a lovely Zen Garden that attracts visitors. Because of its strategic location as a major connecting hub, DXB is a popular stopover for folks with Dubai transit visas traveling on various airlines.

2- Dubai World Central or Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC)

Al Maktoum International Airport, also known as Dubai World Central, is situated about 37 km southwest of Dubai. It first opened up to the public on June 27, 2010, starting with just one runway and focusing on cargo flights. Originally called Jebel Ali International Airport or Dubai World Central International Airport, it was later renamed after Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a former ruler of Dubai. The airport is undergoing major expansion plans, expected to wrap up around 2027. These plans include building six runways, three passenger terminals, several concourses, hotels, shopping malls, and centers for royal and executive jets, among other developments.

It’s the third-largest airport in the Middle East and has been open to the public since 1976. Despite having just one terminal, it boasts the region’s biggest runway, stretching 4060 metres long. The airport provides various amenities, including a mosque, prayer rooms, banking services, and currency exchange centres. It also offers conveniences like baby care rooms and lounges for travellers. Don’t forget to check out the duty-free shops for some great deals on your favourite products!

Abu Dhabi International Airport sits around 30 km from downtown Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. It’s the second-largest airport in the country and hosts over thirty airlines, flying to over a hundred destinations in 50 countries. Opening its doors in 1982, the airport sprawls across 8500 acres and features three terminals and two parallel runways. Terminal 3 is the newest addition, providing travellers with top-notch amenities such as duty-free shopping, dining spots, and shuttle services. If you need a breather before your flight, you can access airport lounges using your bank credit cards to freshen up and unwind.

Al Ain International Airport serves as Abu Dhabi’s second international airport and has been in operation since March 31, 1994. It’s primarily used for military and civilian pilot training and is situated 18 km northwest of Al Ain. The airport features one terminal, four gates, a 4000-metre runway, and a parallel taxiway of the same length, which can also be used as a runway if needed. Al Ain is also home to the UAE’s first aerospace cluster, Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park, which is expected to drive economic growth and create revenue opportunities for the region.

Ras Al Khaimah International Airport sits about 20 km south of the city centre. It was officially opened back in 1976 by Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, the ruler at that time. In April 2007, the airport underwent a significant expansion program, which improved its public transport infrastructure, passenger terminal building, and cargo terminal to make them more comfortable for travellers. The airport boasts two terminal buildings and offers services for cargo, aircraft maintenance, and aviation training. It serves as a hub for Air Arabia, offering flights to various destinations including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Fujairah International Airport sits just 1.9 km south of Fujairah on the south coast. It started welcoming the public in 1987. Over the years, the airport has undergone upgrades to introduce newer facilities aimed at boosting trade and tourism in the region. One significant improvement is the expansion of the existing runway from 45 m to 60 m. Inside the airport, travellers can find spacious lounges for relaxation, duty-free and gift shops, as well as restaurants and snack bars. The Pilot Cafe is a great spot to hang out while waiting for your flight.
